Northumberland's Lindisfarne Castle set to stay closed 'for some time'
The decision has been enforced by difficulties adhering to social distancing guidelines that reopening would cause.
Simon Lee, general manager of Lindisfarne Castle and the Northumberland Coast for the National Trust, gave the update in Holy Island’s July newsletter.

‘As long as social distancing is in place, the confined conditions internally and the single entry / exit point make it difficult to stay safe.’
The walled garden also remains closed, although it is hoped to reopen it at some point.
The castle grounds are still open to the public.
He added: ‘We are very conscious of the concerns of the island community at this time and want to work in a way that is sensitive and respectful of island wishes.’
