Hundreds of pounds raised
Much-loved Chris Gent, 47, was inspired to support The Stephen Carey Fund after dad Steve passed away last year after suffering angina – a syndrome caused by a restriction in the supply of oxygen-rich blood to the heart.
The namesake Stephen Carey Fund, set up in honour of the 21-year-old from Alnmouth who collapsed and died while playing football, provides vital life-saving equipment and training.

Determined Chris took on the Druridge Bay 10k earlier this year and raised £435 for the charity. He was delighted to hand over the cheque last Thursday.
Wendy Baston, also from Hadston, helps to look after Chris. She said: “Chris is a very popular member of the Hadston community and he is very well liked and he wants to thank everyone for their support and sponsorship – he is very grateful and overwhelmed.
“He thinks the Fund is a very worthwhile cause and people gave him a great reception when he finished the Druridge Bay 10k.”
