Northumbria in Bloom winners revealed
The event was staged at the Lancastrian Suite, Gateshead, and numerous locations in north Northumberland fared well in the competition.
Alnwick and Morpeth battled it out in the best-town category. Both were honoured with a gold, but the judges picked Morpeth as the category winner. Berwick, meanwhile, received a silver gilt.

Hide AdLesbury was awarded a silver gilt in the Village category, which was won by Moorsholm.
Ord was honoured with a silver gilt, clinching the large-village section in the process.
Other results of note include Ponteland receiving gold in the small town category, Seaton Delaval being presented with the most improved entry and Blyth taking silver in the large-town section.
Among the special category awards, golds went to Alnmouth Railway Station (Best Bus/Metro/Railway Station), Ord Country Park (Best Commercial Premises) and Berwick Bowling Club (Best Sports Ground).

Hide AdTweedmouth West First School, in Berwick, took gold in the Growing Together for Schools category.
Among those to be presented with awards in the outstanding contributions (voluntary) category were Kenneth Thompson, from Morpeth, for his commitment to the in-Bloom entry and George Anderson, from Ord, for his contribution to the betterment of Ord village.
The guest presenter at the awards was Rae Beckwith, RHS Britain in Bloom senior judge, while the compere was Marian Foster, BBC Newcastle Garden Mania presenter. Around 250 of this year’s entrants attended the event to receive the awards.
