Disappointed by the thought of Remembrance Day passing without the usual commemoration, a community project in Longhoughton decided to get creative and put their own twist on this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Calling it ‘The Great Longhoughton Remembrance Fence’, this community project aims to add as many hand-painted poppies as possible to the fence outside Company B café in the village.

Each poppy is individually hand-painted and the team aims to have 100 on the fence by November 11.
"We’re proud to see such creative tributes in our local area as we approach Remembrance Day,” posted RAF Boulmer on its Facebook page.
This year, the Royal British Legion message is that ‘Every Poppy Counts’.
