Berwick MP apologises for any offence caused by sharing post on social media

It comes after the International Development Secretary shared a coronavirus-related post on WhatsApp.
She sent an image of a fortune cookie showing the broken-English message “You not have coronavirus” to a group containing fellow Tory MPs.

Hide AdThe image, which she forwarded from another chat, also said: “Just received my COVID-19 rapid test kit from CHINA! soooooo relieved!!!!!! Thanks beijing!!!!”
However, an MP forwarded a screenshot to the Sunday Mirror and criticised it as an appalling example of old-fashioned stereotypes.
Mrs Trevelyan, 51, said: “It was not my intent to cause any offence, and I am truly sorry if I did so.”
She has held the Berwick constituency since 2015, increasing her majority to nearly 15,000 in 2019.
