The application, which Punch Partnerships has lodged with Northumberland County Council, relates to land to the south of the Plough Inn at Ellington.
The proposal is for five three-bedroom properties arranged as a pair of semis and a terrace of three, with parking – two spaces per house and a visitor bay – and gardens.

The access will be via the existing access on Front Street and through the car park, but the homes will be set a fair distance from the pub, on the other side of the beer garden, and 70 metres from the road frontage.
In the conclusion of a planning, design and access statement submitted with the application, it states: ‘The proposed development provides for the continued use of The Plough Inn public house, maintaining this valued community facility.’
It also says: ‘The proposed dwellings have been carefully designed and would positively contribute to the character of the predominantly residential area of Ellington.

However, so far, further information has been requested by Northumbrian Water on the management of foul and surface water and the council’s public protection team on noise and contaminated land.
