Hide AdCoun Guy Renner-Thompson, local member on Northumberland County Council, will fund the sign from his small schemes budget.
The proposal has been welcomed by Belford Parish Council which suggested the sign should be placed about half way along the street.
Coun Kerry Noble said: “We’ve got the traffic calming chicane near the school so it would make sense to put the flashing sign further down.”
It was also revealed that additional double yellow lines are planned on the High Street to include the corner near Croft Field. The required traffic regulation order is still being progressed.

Hide AdCoun Renner-Thompson said: “They are going to lay down the lines as advertised now (which also includes works in Bamburgh and Seahouses) and then do a second order to continue the lines down the street, otherwise it would delay the whole thing by about six months.”
Meanwhile, Belford fire station crew are to be approached to find out if they could help remove bus shelter graffiti with high-powered jets.
Possible pollution concerns in the Belford Burn were also raised by Coun Thomas Keys. It was agreed to report it to the Environment Agency.
“It was in a horrible state with dirty, soapy water,” he said.
