He took the ward by a crushing 1,785 votes for the Independents – a huge 79.7% of the vote.
"It’s unbelievable,” said the 33-year-old who has represented the area since 2008.

Hide AdThe election saw the Conservatives win an overall majority at County Hall but Cllr Bridgett is content to avoid party politics wherever possible.
"I’m happy to look after my little corner of Northumberland ” he said. “I’m not that into politics and I don’t think my residents are either.
"If you are a good ward councillor you do whatever you can for all your residents, whatever their political party, and do your best for them.
"I know I can be a bit like Marmite in that I’m not everyone’s cup of tea but I do care about the area.

He hopes the new Tory administration will pay real attention to the needs of rural Northumberland despite their successes in the urban south-east.
"I hope the new administration doesn’t take rural Northumberland for granted,” he said. “The election is gone and it’s theirs but the rural areas are just as important as the urban areas.
"I sometimes think the previous administration was a bit like that. I’m not talking about places like Berwick and Alnwick which have had their large capital projects. I’m talking about small market towns around Northumberland which don’t get as much of a look in.”
