Met Office forecasters issue yellow weather warning for the North East

The warning will be in place until 8pm on Thursday, March 12 as the region is expected to be hit by heavy winds.
Forecasters are predicting that wind speeds could reach 60mph over the course of the day and are encouraging the public to be weary when travelling. There is also the possibility of delays to public transport.

Hide AdThey are asking the public to take caution when driving on the roads across the region, especially on exposed routes and bridges.
The Met Office is saying that communities along the North East coast may experience spray and high waves – with some sea, ferry and air travel possibly being affected.
Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 7°c – with the weather predicted to remain slightly cloudy until this evening.
