Saturday, July 4 will mark the reopening of several key areas of the hospitality sector including pubs, restaurants and cinemas, which have been closed since lockdown began in March.
It is the most significant easing of restrictions and social distancing measures to date but ‘unsettled’ weather conditions could deter some from venturing out.

Hide AdAccording to Met Office forecasters, the North East is set for an ‘unsettled but humid weekend with strong winds, spells of occasionally heavy rain and some brightness’.
Friday
There will be heavy rain on Friday morning, with showers persisting before turning to cloudy weather by the early evening.
Highs of 16°C are expected and the rain could return later in the evening, with a 50% chance of precipitation from 8pm.
Wind gusts will reach 30mph in the afternoon.
Saturday
Showers are forecast to continue on Saturday with a 40-60% chance of rain up until 4pm.

Hide AdMild highs of 18°C are due in the afternoon through to the early evening, where sunny intervals will emerge from the rain.
Wind gusts of up to 27mph are expected along with high levels of pollen.
Sunday
Temperatures will feel slightly cooler going into Sunday, but we’ll still see highs of around 17°C come the afternoon.
There will be sunny intervals throughout the morning and early afternoon which will then change into light showers with a 40% chance of precipitation.
