Play suspended for local clubs
At the weekend, the Northern Alliance League saw the majority of fixtures go ahead, as did Alnwick Rugby.
But by Monday evening it was confirmed by both governing bodies that all play, and training, would be halted for their members.

Hide AdElsewhere in the region, Berwick Speedway has seen the start of their season postponed – it will be reviewed in a month’s time – and the Jim Clark Rally in the Borders has been cancelled.
On Saturday in the Alliance Premier Division, Alnwick Town had a good 4-0 home win over Shankhouse at St James’ Park, a victory which puts them 12th in the table with 17 points from 17 games.
One of the goals was scored by 17 year-old Lewis Fairbairn, who bagged his first for the team after impressing with the Development Squad and U23s.
Alnwick U23s had a good 4-1 home win over Amble St Cuthbert on the 3G pitch at Greensfield in the North East Combination League. The Development Squad’s away match against Fawdon was postponed.

Hide AdMeanwhile, Alnwick Town Ladies also found themselves without a game when their away match against Chester-le-Street Town Development in the NE Women’s League was postponed.
The Development team were in action against Wylam Rockets and they had a big 10-1 home win. Anne Smith scoring four goals.
